Happy Winter Thermstice, or Imbolc! Amid the dark and cold, the warmth and light begin to return. The days are noticeably longer now that it’s been over a month since the Winter Solstice, and now we begin warming as well. It’s the middle of Winter, but warmer days lie ahead!
For those of us in more Northern climes, the Winter Thermstice, or Imbolc, means ice and snow. Earlier, we looked at snowflakes, seeing on an atomic level why they make such beautiful crystals. This year, check out these cool, science inspired candles, just in time for the candle-themed Sabbat of Imbolc, with different color flames!
The Critical Thinking Witch Collective is excited to host a Witches Brew this Saturday – you can start 2025 by connecting to more Naturalistic Pagans!
You are invited, called in, and summoned!
Here comes New Year’s Eve! What will you make from it? A fun evening? A window into the vastness of space and time? A commitment to help our world in these pivotal times? Steps towards a better life, a better you? All of these are possible!
Happy Winter Solstice, or Yule! Of course, our spherical planet also gives us the beautiful symmetry of the Summer Solstice (Litha) being celebrated now by our Southern Hemisphere friends. With the exact Solstice moment at 4:20 am (EST) on December 21st, the longest night for most of those in the world is the night of the 2oth. This is different for every time zone, and is easy to figure out. If the instant of the Solstice is in the morning (before noon) in your local time zone, then the longest night is the night before. If it’s in the afternoon or evening, the the longest night is the night after the Winter Solstice for you.
