
Happy Spring Equinox, or Ostara! I know many of are under various levels of restricted activity due to the Coronavirus. Even in this surreal time, we can still observe the seasonal change. The orbit of the Earth of course isn’t effected by a pandemic.

Don’t miss episode 2 of THE WONDER podcast: RITUALS!
Though still in the depths of winter here in Michigan, the longer days are already noticeable, and today the temperature is higher than any day since November (57 F). Because the daylight cycle leads our seasons, the days are already as long as they were in early October – though of course still much colder. For me, this growing daylight (reinforced by the start of Daylight Savings Time) is a reminder from our Earth itself, one of those many helpful features of our seasons, to begin thinking about, and planning for, the Spring Equinox/Ostara. The days grow steadily longer, and in my area the daffodils and poppies are up and blooming now. We’ve had unseasonably (? Climate change…) warm and dry weather throughout February and it’s looking like another drought year, but for now the hills and meadows are green and the bare trees are beginning to bud.
