Happy Summer Solstice!
Plus, get ready for another wonderful Solstice gift from our Universe! Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter Saturn, Uranus and Neptune join in the Solstice celebrations this year with a planetary parade! This lineup hasn’t happened (1864) since before the first Juneteenth (1865), and won’t happen again until 2040.
Playlist for the Wheel of the Year: Summer Solstice
Over the years, I have created rituals to celebrate the Wheel of the Year with my wife and children. Music has been an essential part of the experience. Without it, it would be much more difficult to create the sense of sacred time and space and to evoke the experience I desire for each ritual. Last year, I mistakenly thought that the pandemic was winding down. I failed to realized that anti-science views were so strong in the United States that dozens of millions would avoid the life-saving vaccine, even when we have stockpiles (while poor countries go without), and I didn’t take the omicron mutation into account either. I’ve marked the time a year ago on the graph above. Back then I wrote: “With blinking eyes and cautious steps, somewhat like the Brood X cicadas swarming parts of the Eastern United States now, we are re-emerging as the pandemic winds down. What stays? What changes?”
